Coffee Roasting Barrel (PLANS NOT READY FOR SALE)
I love coffee, but knew very little about roasters when I began thinking about this barrel. After seeing the price for a small roasting barrel, I was challenged to design and build my own. It turned out to be one of the projects I enjoy most after completing. Roasting coffee has become a kind of ritual ending in a few cups of the freshest, best tasting coffee I’ve ever enjoyed. Experts recommend allowing roasted coffee beans to rest and degas for some time (2-7 days) before brewing to optimize the flavor extracted. I do agree, however I also find it enjoyable to roast, grind, brew and sip a cup with guests in a matter of an hour. The roasting beans smell “grassy” initially, but as they come close to their first “crack” stage, the smell in the air is awesome (for coffee lovers anyway).
