Welcome To
Garnero
Project Plans
Garnero Project Plans are a set of (PDF downloadable) dimensioned drawings with construction notes documenting home projects designed and built by me as a pass time during my working career. I am formally trained as a mechanical engineer with over 35 years experience building things for a living. Combining this professional experience with my desire to create with wood and other materials has resulted in the unique, high-quality project plans available here.
PROJECT ENGINEERING MANAGER
Over age 60 now, I retired just before COVID shutdown. I’d spent over 20 years driving Houston traffic to a high pressure position doing what I enjoy doing, building things. I retired from a Project Engineering Manager position directing teams of highly qualified engineers responsible for designing, building and installing turret mooring systems offshore worldwide. These were big projects, some costing hundreds of millions, many sold directly to the major oil companies. Check out www.SOFEC.com. I managed the engineering on a good number of SOFEC’s single point mooring projects. You’ll find my name on a few patents hanging in the lobby at SOFEC’s main office in Katy, Texas.
GUIDENCE FROM A CRAFTSMAN
I am a craftsman with skills in working with wood, metal and stone. I want to share my design plans with others having similar interests. The detail included in these plans will successfully guide you through building some interesting and useful additions to the inside and outside spaces around your home or shop.

Your Builds
Something I really enjoy is looking at pictures of things I’ve built in the past. I expect you may be the same. If you purchase a set of my plans and built one of my designs, please email me a pic or two (with comments) of your build. I will post it here so we all can enjoy seeing your work.
TOOLS,TIPS AND REFERENCES
TOOLS & TIPS
When it comes to wood construction, water can be the enemy. Wet wood rots, so keep it dryy when ever possible. Use treated lumber if you can and preserve it periodically with an oil base sealer or an epoxy coating. When setting posts in concrete, form a fillet just above grade to ensure the wood at post bottom remains out of any surrounding puddle. This will prevent the classic failure of a fence post at its base from rot weakened wood.
